Energy Industry Veteran, Shelby Barbier, Promoted as Cinterra’s New Chief Executive Officer

Hope Mills, N.C. – July 9, 2024 – Cinterra, one of the nation’s leading electrical utility and utility-scale solar contractor, announces the promotion of Shelby Barbier as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Barbier joined Cinterra as Chief Operating Officer in January 2024 and brings a wealth of energy and construction experience to his new role as CEO.  As a next-generation leader, Barbier is a seasoned executive with a proven background critical to the future success of Cinterra’s growing national footprint in the renewable energy and electric utilities sector.

Founded in 2005, and formerly Directional Services, Inc. (DSI), the company was recently ranked as one of the top electrical and solar contractors in the United States. The company’s diverse capabilities include construction and implementation of utility-scale solar and electrical services, energy storage, below- and above-ground utility installation, and directional drilling to the nation’s leading utility and renewable energy development companies.

Barbier possesses diverse energy construction experience that spans over 30 years managing integrated project teams, including various strategic initiatives for Black & Veatch, a global engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company.  He has led the planning, implementation and management of all aspects of construction projects across many different sectors.His full life-cycle management skills have been put to the test successfully leading billions of dollars in renewable energy, and fossil energy projects including solar, hydroelectric, wind, nuclear,petrochemical and telecommunications construction and maintenance.
